NEW HOMES

Rather than rebuild on accident prone land on the coast, we built new (temporary) houses in complexes on land given by the government. The Tamil Nadu government has promised to build new, pucca (concrete) homes for all the villagers, but the villagers needed somewhere to live in the meantime, so we built them the typical thatched huts which are traditional, typical homes used by fishermen and villagers in South India.

Also, in cooperation with another NGO, we provided hundreds of sturdy tents for villagers.

The construction was fast and within 4 days there were 100 new, temporary houses constructed

Villagers are so happy with their new, temporary homes.
